The water levels have been holding steady around 1,000 CFS for the past week in Emma, well above average for this time of year. This has kept the river cool and fishing well, thanks to a good snowpack, recent rain, and increased flows from the diversion on Independence Pass. Boats are still floating the upper river which is rare for this time of year.

Roaring Fork River Fly Fishing Report

After a long runoff, the river has finally slowed and cleared and the fish have returned to their usual summertime haunts. Dry flies and nymph rigs have both been productive with dry droppers being guides preferred technique. The upper river from Aspen to Woody Creek has been hit or miss recently with most of the insect activity focused downstream.
